Privacy

Carried holds some of the most personal things people own. We treat them that way.

Private by default

Every new journey is private. Only you can see it until you change its visibility. A public link does not put a journey on the Explore page — that needs a separate choice.

Your photographs

Photos are stored in secure private storage and delivered through short-lived links to people allowed to see them. Hidden location data inside images is removed before upload.

Your first photo draft

Before you sign in and choose to save, your photo draft is kept only in this browser on your device, not uploaded to our photo storage. To resume after confirming your email, return to the same browser and website address. You can discard the draft at any time. Clearing this website's storage removes unsaved drafts; on a shared device, discard your draft before leaving. Once saving is confirmed, the local photograph is removed.

Location

We read the place a photo was taken from the photo itself. We only ask for your device's location if you tap "Use My Current Location". We never guess a location for you.

Your rights

From your profile you can edit your name, download your authorised journeys and photographs, or permanently delete your account. Journey owners can delete a whole journey. Deleting an account removes its owned journeys, all their photos and contributions, and the account's contributions to other journeys, invitations and access permissions.

Family contributions

Invited people can view approved memories. Contributors can submit photographs, but only the owner can approve them. Pending photographs are visible only to their contributor while authorised and the journey owner. Owners can revoke access. Previously issued photo links can remain usable for up to five minutes.

External services

Carried uses Lovable Cloud for accounts, records and private photo storage. OpenStreetMap provides map tiles, and Nominatim receives coordinates or place searches to look up place names. Export files downloaded to your device are your responsibility to keep safe.

Owner review required

This is a description of current features, not a complete legal privacy policy. The website owner must confirm the legal operator, privacy contact, lawful bases, processors, international transfers, retention and backup practices, and applicable rights before launch. No retention period is promised here.
